Mary Henige, APR, has been with General Motors for over 20 years.  She is currently the director of social media and digital communications, where she is in charge of all of GM’s social media, including external blogs and Twitter chats.  Henige’s most recent work includes helping to launch http://www.gmreinvention.com, which was strategic in communicating with the public during GM’s bankruptcy. Among other things, Henige is a leader in strategic communications, issues management, marketing communications, legal communications, and media relations.

Henige is currently the professional advisor for the Wayne State University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.  She received a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and public relations, and a master’s degree in organizational communication and public relations, from Wayne State University.
