My name is Veronica Fiegel and I’m excited to be the PRSSA vice president of chapter development for the 2012-2013 school year. I started at Wayne in 2008 as a transfer student from Macomb Community College with my mind set on a career in dietetics. Upon starting my core coursework for the major, I realized that something was missing. I missed the “people” aspect of college; I missed interacting with people and getting to write in my classes. I wanted a degree that could lead to multiple job opportunities and a career in an engaging field. Thus, when I discovered public relations, I knew I had found what I wanted to study.
My role in PRSSA includes managing internal communication within the Chapter via our weekly emails. I also manage membership forms and Chapter funds, record all meeting minutes and put together membership folders. What makes me a good person for this position is my strong attention to detail and my keen organizational skills.
In addition to my contributions to PRSSA, I’m also the peer mentor for the public relations program, mentoring the first public relations class throughout my senior year at Wayne. This allows me to apply what I have learned thus far in my public relations coursework and my two internships to a group of students who are newly learning the fundamentals of the profession.
This year is sure to be a busy one, but very rewarding. I’m looking forward to the new school year and meeting all of our new members!
