313 Day is only a week away! Katelyn Davis of 313DLove tells us how we can celebrate the city and show our #313DLOVE on March 13th.
313Dlove returns for the fourth year, brings another inspirational event and celebratory march, hopes to garner positive worldwide attention for Detroit.
For the fourth year in a row, 313Dlove is celebrating all things Detroit with an event featuring Detroit’s most inspiring minds plus a march throughout the City to show our support and love for Detroit.
“This year we’ve added a march to the celebration to bring about more attention to our movement,” said Terry Bean, 313Dlove Founder. “We want to reinforce and drive home the idea that good things are happening in Detroit and we need to publicize them, build support, and keep the momentum moving forward.”
The 313Dlove movement began on March 13, 2012 with a tweet and the hashtag #313Dlove—a hashtag that went on to trend worldwide as people from around the globe shared their love for the City of Detroit. Since then #313Dlove has continued to trend every year on March 13, the date that matches the city’s famous area code.
“I remember being misty eyed as I saw the hashtag #313DLove trend worldwide on Twitter in 2012,” said Bean. “I imagine I will feel the same way this year when Detroit Supporters gather on March 13 to celebrate this great city as well as our unified commitment to making it a better place.”
The 313Dlove March is sponsored by the United Way for Southeastern Michigan another organization that shares the same ideals as 313Dlove—to ignite a movement and empower people to unite and solve problems that affect us all.
The March will depart Detroit’s Charles H. Wright Museum at 10:00 a.m. and will follow a predetermined path, concluding back at the Museum where a 313Dlove speaking event will take place at 1:00 p.m. Those interested in participating in the March are encouraged to make and bring with them signs and flags, featuring the hashtag #313Dlove.
The March is free to anyone who would like to participate. Tickets for the 313Dlove museum event at the museum, can be purchased at www.313Dlove.com.
313Dlove is a movement aimed toward bringing worldwide positive attention and focus to Detroit and its community. Since the first #313Dlove hashtag was tweeted in 2012, 313Dlove has consistently been an outlet for people to share their stories and love for the City of Detroit year-round online and during a once a year event every March 13th. The vision of #313Dlove is a Detroit whose self-worth is high, unemployment is low and education is second to none. 313Dlove was founded by Terry Bean, Founder of Motor City Connect.
